Privacy Policy

Website Data Cleaner does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any user data. It has no server, no analytics, and no background network requests. The only outbound navigation it ever triggers is opening the Pro checkout page in a new tab, and only when you click an "Upgrade to Pro" button yourself.

What the extension stores

All data stays on your device, in Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local / chrome.storage.session):

• Your global mode and cleanup preferences (Automatic / Ask / Manual, site data cleanup, supported permission reset).
• Your per-site rules (Clean on close / Whitelisted).
• Your plan status (Free or Pro). Pro is unlocked locally by entering a license key; no account or login is required.
• A short in-memory list of which open tab belongs to which site origin, used only to detect when the last tab for a site has closed. This is cleared when Chrome restarts.
• A local log of the last 20 cleanup actions (site, time, what was cleared), used only to show you what the extension just did.

None of this is ever sent anywhere. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it.

Upgrading to Pro

Clicking "Upgrade to Pro" opens our checkout page (hosted by Polar, our payment processor) in a new browser tab. That page is operated by Polar, not by this extension, and its own privacy policy and terms apply to any payment information you enter there. The extension itself never sees or handles your payment details — it only opens the link.

What the extension can access, and why

• Browsing data (browsingData, cookies) — used only to clear cookies, CacheStorage, local storage, IndexedDB, service workers, and similar site data for a site origin after you close its last tab, or when you click "Clean this site now." The extension does not clear Chrome's global HTTP cache.
• Site permissions (contentSettings) — used only to reset supported Chrome permissions (camera, microphone, location, notifications, clipboard) back to "ask" for a site origin, under the same conditions.
• Tabs (tabs) and all sites (host_permissions) — used only to detect a site's origin from its URL and know when the last open tab for that origin has closed. The extension does not read page content, form data, or any content inside a page.

Third parties

The only third party is Polar, our payment processor, and only if you choose to upgrade to Pro (see above). No analytics SDKs, no ad networks, no remote code, no other external APIs.
